Lots of Walking

Right now it's about 7:00 on Monday night. We spent the day walking around Ho Chi Minh. Crossing the street is quite a challenge. There are basically no traffic lights and no walking signals. You just start walking out in the middle of traffic and the cars and motorcycles swerve around you. It's quite an experience. There are about a million motorcycles here, and not many cars. We did some shopping at a market place, but it was kind of intimidating because people would grab your arms asking you to buy things. They did have really good prices though. I got a dress that's 100% silk for $15. We also got lots of little things to give to Ethan on birthdays as he gets older. The people here are so nice and very accomodating. They seem to think positively about Americans. Tomorrow morning we are leaving for Can Tho at 8:00. It will be a 5 hour trip (to go 90 miles) and we will travel with two other American families who are getting their little boys at the same orphanage. We will get to meet Ethan and spend time with him at his orphanage tomorrow, but we won't get to keep him until Wednesday. It was nice to be able to keep busy and see the city today, but we're ready to get to Can Tho!

So glad you made it safely! Thank you SO much for doing the blog so we can follow along on your journey. We SO understand about the traffic - it's crazy isn't it?! Looking forward to "gotcha day" post (& hopefully pictures...hint, hint).
Take care,
~Lois (& the entire Rodgers gang)

Yea! I know you're excited to meet Ethan tomorrow and I can't imagine how hard it will be to leave him behind for a night, but just think how wonderful Wednesday will be! :)

Dear A&A,

I had a long comment typed and when I tried to post it it disappeared. Will try again.

We attended worship service at FBC Lowell yesterday morning. Went there again this a.m. to take the pkg to Cathy, and they gave us a copy of your two messages. Told me I could come to Dairy Queen at Lowell to use wifi so that's where we are now.

So happy to hear from you and can't wait to hear how things go today when you see and hold that precious baby Ethan.

Much love from Stan & Granny B
