Our First 2 Days Together

Sorry it has taken me so long to post again. We've been a little preoccupied. :) Right now it is about 3:00 on Thursday afternoon. So yesterday morning we all went to the center to pick up our boys. They were all dressed in new clothes that Ethan will probably fit into when he's two years old (not an exaggeration, they're enormous!) Then we went to the justice department for the Giving and Receiving ceremony, which was more like a trip to the DMV than a "ceremony." That's probably because it was at the DMV. One line for babies, and the other line for driver's licenses. I guess it's a good thing we got into the right line! It didn't take long at all to sign the paperwork, and then we had our long bus ride back to Ho Chi Minh. Ethan was perfect on the trip. He slept for the first two hours, and then he just played with his toy for the rest of the time. When we got to the hotel, Ethan was all smiles. For some reason Adam seems to be able to coax them out better than me. Since he had all women nannies, a man may be kind of a novelty. So, I was kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop....and it finally did. When he started getting sleepy, I think he realized that he wasn't in his own bed, so he cried, and cried, and cried...... It was very sad, but we were prepared for that. All the babies have had a little trouble, and have had to do a little greiving. It's nice to be here with a group of other parents so that we have someone to commiserate with. Ethan finally fell asleep at about 6:00, and slept until 5:30 this morning. We had to get up with him several times, but it wasn't that tiring because we had only been sleeping a few hours at a time this whole trip with the jet lag.

Now for today - This morning the dads had to go together to apply for the babies' passports while the moms and babies went to a doctor's appointment. It took at little over two hours to get our turn at the clinic, and the checkup was very minimal. They pretty much just looked him over, asked me if he was eating, sleeping etc., and gave him the thumbs up to get a visa. Ethan was a little fussy the whole time because he fights sleep during the day. We came back to the hotel and he took a little nap. Then all the families decided to have lunch together at a local French restaurant. It was the best food we've had so far on the trip (we actually ate at a place in Can Tho that had snake and goat on the menu) but once again Ethan was sleepy, so he fussed and I didn't get too much to eat. The joys of parenthood, right? This afternoon Ethan had been incredibly happy and playful. He LOVES toys, and the more noise they make, the better he likes them. The dads had to go out again this afternoon to pick up the babies' passports and buy our plane tickets to Hanoi for tomorrow. We are hoping to get our visa interview in Hanoi on Monday. It just depends on how many other applicant there are right now.

By the way, thanks for all the comments. It makes us feel so much closer to home. :)

Yeah!!Yeah!!Yeah!! The girls talk about Ethan nonstop! They do not understand why they can't walk to your house and see him. They are very excited and can't wait to "play" with him. I am glad things are going well for you all. We will continue to pray for your time there and safe return back to us! Give Ethan lots of hugs and kisses for us!

Congratulations!!! And thanks for sharing this experience with us. I am so happy for you both and for little Eathan. I was adopted and thank God often that he blessed me with the parents he chose for me, I am sure Eathan will be doing the samething one of these days. You all will make great parents.
God bless!

This is wonderful news, just what we've been waiting to hear. BTW, Scout is bonding with us. This morning he jumped up in our bed and stayed there for a long time, even after we got up. :-)Keep us posted every chance you get. This is a great way to keep in touch. Love you bunches, G'pa Stan & Granny B

Here come the noisy toys...he's going to love his Aunt Ellen. :) I'm happy to hear he's so full of energy and loves to play. Ethan probably smiles more for Adam just because he thinks Adam's funny-looking...don't we all. :) Just kidding Adam (sorta). If you get your appointment on Monday, will you be coming home earlier? How great would that be! Obviously, all of us can barely contain ourselves. Have you tried posting pictures yet? We need one of the three of you together. Love you lots...
